The Navy used MER bomb racks on F-4s and Intruders. Are they still being used in the Navy for some aircraft (F-18s?) Thanks Randy

We used to use them constantly on the A6-E Intruders. I got out in 91 and we were still using them then. They are a good versatile delivery system.

I am in a F/A-18 E/F Squadron and we use MER's all the time

Thanks for input. I thought they were still used, but I could not find any pictures of MER's being used on F-18's.

Actually an F/A-18 uses an IMER.

IMERS...that is right...my bad...but yes f/a-18 do use them....i put two imers on a f/a-18 today matter of fact.

They're only used for Mk-76's & BDU-48's. The F-18 is not authorized to carry HEAVIES on them. Kind of silly if you ask me. They do however use VER's and CVER's to carry Mk-80 series bombs.

The MERS/IMERS are still around, but yet frequently used with any other planes except the F/A-18. I used them in 85-88 on A-7's/F-4's/A-6's at NAS Pt. Mugu.

the Mers and Ters were great as long as you beat the cads out of them you could give them a good wack and they would work everytime kinda sad to see them used less and less. i worked on F-4 A-4 A-6 back in the 80's the good old days.

We use them on Hueys and cobras to carry Tow, Hellfire racks. The new "Z" Cobra only has the Bru-59 "IMER Rack".
