I'm in DEP right now for the navy and i was wondering what the coolest part about the job was.

Ordnance is a strange rate... you're either bustin' your ass or sittin' on it. Mostly the former. The best part is the satisfaction that nobody knows what you do... 'n nobody else can tell you how to do it... 'cept another Ordie.

The best part about being is that all AO's are tight. No matter where your from or who you are, it doesnt matter. AO's take care of each other, not like other rates. The gunners are cool because they are prior enlisted and they know where they come from. the job is awsome and i would do it in the civilian life as well. whenever we're pushing ordnance throught the hanger bay or chow hall EVERYONE eys get big and they all look with "AW". WELCOME NEW FELLOW AO BROTHER. IYAOYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the best part of being an Aviation Ordnanceman? Hmmmm....just all the comraderie, the people, the gunners. Being out at sea or working on an Airplane. But just being proud that you wear the uniform with the flaming piss pot on it and knowing how great of rate that you are in. Don't let anyone tell you any different. There are only two rates in the Navy........AO's and those that want to be AO's. So take charge and be a good AO, because we are the best rate in the Navy and in the Marine Corps.
