First, a little background on myself. My name is Kevin Margetta and I am an active duty AOCS stationed at COMHSMWINGPAC in San Diego on shore duty. I recently completed a ship’s company tour on the USS Stennis. My background varies from A-7’s to H-60’s.

I’ve been interested in racing since I was a kid. I have recently received my competition-racing license and I am working with Barry to have Ordiemart.com be a sponsor for my 2001 Mustang GT. I race in a class called the Camaro-Mustang-Challenge (CMC for short, not to be confused with Command Master Chief). It’s part of the National AutoSport Association (NASA). I race in the SoCal and NorCal regions at various tracks in the state. I recently completed my first three races at Buttonwillow (near Lemoore) and my next race will be at Infineon Raceway (formerly Sears Point) Aug 6-7. Check out the NASA and CMC sites and come out to the races in your area.

Please support this site for continued sponsorship of the #63 Mustang.
Thanks Barry!

Here are some pics of the car. My finishing position has been near the back of the pack. Most of the racers have several years racing experience, I'm working on my third race weekend with a new car that is still getting dialed in.

I think I'll need bigger Ordiemart stickers next year!

UPDATE: Camaro-Mustang Challenge season is over and had some bad luck on the last weekend. While in 3rd, I got hit by a guy who went off and tried to save it and came back on at 90 deg. We collided at about 60mph. Safety gear did it's job and the car is fixable. I did drop a few positions for the end of year standings because of it. Had a shot at third overall and ended up 7th out of 33 drivers after not finishing that race and missing the race the next day.

Pics of the car post accident.

Videos from the Nation Championship and the crash:
Go to the below link, right click and "save target as" and put the file on your computer. Some are VERY large.

6323.wmv (short clip of just the accident)

cmcnationals1.wmv (CMC Nationals with a 10th place finish out of 24)

nationalspt.wmv (ran in a Performance Touring Class for more track time)

nov06bw1cw.wmv (high res version of last race with accident at the end. Started 4th, got to 1st, dropped to 3rd, got hit)

nov06bw1cw2.wmv (low res version of above file)

I'll be at California Speedway on 16 March for our Season opener if anyone wants to come on by. Only $10 or so to get in for the whole weekend! Roam around in the pits, check out the cars, sit and watch the racing! Great track and really FAST!
